Viña Ventisquero reduces the use of water per hectare in the central area by more than 60%

In the middle of one of the driest summers in the central zone of Chile, Viña Ventisquero has inspected different ways to reduce the use of water in its vines. This topic has been treated in the Vineyard about 10 years ago and has been to re-educate the vine so that it adapts to grow without water.

In the Trinidad vineyard, located in “Valle del Maipo”, water consumption was reduced by half in just a decade, from 1,680 m3/ha to 850 m3 /ha. In the “Roblería de Apalta” vineyard, in the Colchagua Valley, water consumption was reduced by 80%, from 2,130 m3 /ha to 450 m3/ha.

In Apalta, 14 hectares of vineyards have been generated with zero irrigation, called “Dry Farming”.
