Get to know the New Chile: a country with Distinctive and Bold Wines

Chile is a country that has matured in its winemaking; that decided to shore up its classics and take risks with new wines that are representative of their diverse terroirs.

And of course, Viña Ventisquero, with its challenging spirit, is part of this new Chile. Proof of this is in the expansion of the viticultural map, with winemaking that goes beyond the traditional valleys of central Chile.

We were pioneers in planting in the Atacama Desert, producing Tara, Ventisquero Grey Sauvignon Blanc, and Kalfu Sumpai. And while every wine is unique, each reflects the minerality and salinity of its soils, the camanchaca fog, and the strong winds.

But we didn’t want to stop there, so we expanded towards the south, all the way to the Itata and Maule Valleys. There, we created associations with small producers who own centenary vines that have been passed down from generation to generation, and for decades have been irrigated with only rainwater.

And as Chile is a country of both the sea and the mountains, we’ve cultivated varieties close to the Pacific Ocean and high up in the Andes Mountain Range, showing the impact of the terroirs that are affected by more than 5,000 kilometres of cool coastline, and also those situated at almost 1,000 metres above sea level.

All of this expansion has been accompanied by the reinvention of old varieties recovered using different winemaking techniques, in order to get the best that our land has to offer, but always respecting our people and traditions.

This is the new Chile, and Viña Ventisquero is a part of it.
