Apalta is recognized as a new Appellation of Origin in Chile

It’s official, now our Pangea, Vértice and Grey GCM, Syrah y Merlot can feel proud to have their own official Appelation of Origin: Apalta.

The Appellation of Origin known as a D.O. (denominación de origen in Spanish) is defined as an indication of origin applied to a product whose quality and characteristics are due exclusively to the geographical location where it is produced.

This certification gives value to the origin and shows the progress Chile has made on this front, being a wine-producing country that is more and more specific, with each wine being a reference for the special terroir from where it originates.

Apalta, located just a few kilometers from Santa Cruz, has over 800 hectares of vines and other crops, and is known as a producer of premium wines.

Currently, Viña Ventisquero’s La Roblería–known as the “jewel of the Colchagua Valley”–is 66 hectares of hillside-planted vines, irrigated by a drip system with water from nearby deep-water wells.
