Ventisquero high-end wines and Kalfu Sumpai line among Tim Atkin’s favourites

In his second report on Chile for 2018, renowned UK critic Tim Atkin highlighted the quality and consistency of Viña Ventisquero’s various wines, varieties and lines. Four wines stood out with 95 or more points: Ventisquero Enclave Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 from the Maipo Valley, Ventisquero Tara Chardonnay 2016 from the Atacama Valley, Kalfu Sumpai Syrah 2016 from the Leyda Valley and the blend Ramirana Trinidad Vineyard 2014 from the Maipo Valley. These are four different wines from different varieties and valleys that show Viña Ventisquero’s quality and geographic diversity.

In addition to the wines listed above, several selections received a score of 93 points: Ventisquero Herú Pinot Noir 2015 from the Casablanca Valley, Ventisquero Vértice 2014 and Ventisquero Grey Glacier Single Block GCM 2017 from the Colchagua Valley, Ventisquero Grey Single Block Syrah 2015 and Ramirana Red Blend 2015 from the Apalta Valley, and Ventisquero Grey Single Block Sauvignon Blanc 2017 and Kalfu Sumpai Sauvignon Blanc 2017, both from the Atacama Valley.

These high scores reaffirm the Tara project, which is a pioneer in producing wines from the heart of the Atacama Desert. They also speak to the quality of wines such as Enclave, Vértice and Herú, as well as the efforts that the vineyard has made in new valleys such as Leyda and Atacama, expanding our country’s winemaking map in an effort to create unique, distinctive wines that express their terroir.
